I'm Dan, and I founded Barefoot Apps. I spent years leading engineering and product teams, and the thing I kept coming back to was this: the best results always came from great teams, not great individuals. Teams with clear roles, real trust, and the freedom to do their best work. Barefoot Apps is my attempt to build that from scratch, with a new set of tools that change what a small, focused team can actually do.
The model here is cross-functional by design. Research, product thinking, design, and development all happen inside the same team. No handoffs, no waiting, no context lost between the people who define the work and the people who do it. Every member of the team brings something the others cannot. That is what makes it work.
Before founding Barefoot Apps, I spent years inside product and engineering teams at companies of various sizes. The patterns that make software projects succeed are not complicated. Clear scope, disciplined follow-through, and close attention to what users actually need. Those things matter more than most people admit, and they do not change regardless of what tools the team is using.
The apps we build are AI-first in the sense that they use AI where it genuinely improves the experience, on-device where possible, with real privacy guarantees, doing things that weren't practical before the models got good. Not AI for the sake of the label.

No single product carries all the weight. The portfolio grows steadily. Each new app is an independent bet, not a pivot from something that failed.

Shipping is the test. Ideas are cheap. The discipline is in the follow-through: finishing things, maintaining them, and iterating based on what real users actually do.

Most organizations separate the people who define the work from the people who do it. We built ours so they are the same team. That changes everything about how fast you can move and how good the output is.

This studio is not trying to become a unicorn. The goal is durable, profitable, useful software, the kind that can run for years without burning out the people behind it.
